A prosecutor from the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office informed the court on Dec. 20 that they are awaiting further expert evaluation of a mother accused of killing her two children last year before determining a potential plea offer.

During reception court on Tuesday, the prosecution told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn that 30-year-old Jameria Hall was deemed competent to stand trial earlier this year in mental health court for the brutal murder of her two children, 8-year-old Davin Thomas and 6-year-old Da’Neria Thomas, on Aug. 24, 2021. Experts are expected to reevaluate Hall following her change competency, she said.

The defendant is represented by defense attorneys Mary Pizzo and Deborah Levi.

Judge Phinn agreed to postpone Hall’s case to reception court on June 5, 2023.

Hall was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure after reports of a “foul smell” coming from her apartment on the 500 block of Coventry Road. Inside, WBAL-TV 11 News reported that her son was found in a sleeping bag with a knife stuck in his chest and a black trash bag tied to his head, and her daughter was found in the bathtub with an “apparent clothing object” around her neck.
