On Sep 3, opening statements were presented before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M Handy in a bar shooting on Dec 28, 2025.
The defendant Aaron Mills, 43 is charged with first and second degree assault, firearm usage in a crime of violence, assault on a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and multiple other firearm and drug distribution-related offenses.
According to court documents, Mills allegedly pulled a gun out after an altercation at the Hubcap Bar & Grill on the 6000 block of Belair Road after he accused a female and her few friends of not paying a bill.
Mills allegedly fired eight shots but no injuries were reported.
Officers arrived at the scene where they were approached by a woman shouting and pointing that the man over there shot her.
As the officers attempted to de-escalate the situation and stop him, Mills reportedly fled.
He then allegedly disposed of his weapon but when an officer tried to stop him he struggled against arrest.
Officers finally detained Mills and in searching his friend’s vehicle they allegedly found 43 containers of cocaine as well as eight 45 caliber shells, a 45 caliber gun and a rifle.
During opening statements the prosecution expressed the severity of shooting multiple rounds and the force used against an officer, as key evidence that would lead to a conviction.
Defense attorney Keyser Tatro said he never received any security camera footage or a list of witnesses from the location. He only received body camera footage which doesn’t depict any wrongdoing or an indication of guilt.
He asked the jury for a “not guilty” verdict on all charges.
