On March 4, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set a trial date for 16-year-old Costello Simms

Simms is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and single counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, carrying a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle and possession of a firearm as a minor.

Judge Copeland set a trial date for July 26. The trial is expected to last four days in front of Judge Yolanda A. Tanner. Simms will appear with his attorney Natalie Finegar.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, Simms was accused of the murder of 21-year-old Ronald Boone in connection to a fatal shooting on Feb. 25, 2022, on the 3300 block of Kentucky Avenue.

He was identified after a witness allegedly recognized Simms’ picture in a photo array as the driver of the Toyota Yaris involved in the shooting. Baltimore Police Department officers observed the driver of the Toyota Yaris firing a gunshot through the window through surveillance footage from the area.
