A murder trial for two Baltimore men was set to begin this week but was pushed back due to the prosecutor not being done with another case.

The case against Raekwon Griffin and Monty Shuler was bought before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on Nov. 29 because the prosecutor assigned to the case was still in trial for another case.

Judge Phinn decided to continue the hearing until Dec. 9, when the prosecutor would be available to pick a date to start the trial.

Griffin, 21, and Schuler, 23, are charged with three counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and two counts of using a firearm in a felony violent crime in connection with an incident on Aug. 5, 2021.

Griffin, who was a minor at the time of the incident, also faces an additional charge of possessing a firearm as a minor and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, on the night of the incident, around 8:20 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 4300 block of Flowerton Road. They found two men in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The unconscious men were taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where they both succumbed to their injuries. The victims were later identified as 26-year-old Brian Christopher Palmer and 33-year-old Darrin Tyrell Stewart.

Griffin and Schuler are represented by attorneys Kenneth Man and James Johnston, respectively.
