On Feb. 27, Judge Barry G. Williams dismissed all charges against Leonard Joyner, who was acquitted of first-degree murder.
Judge Williams granted the defense counsel’s motion of judgment of acquittal as to two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, single counts of attempted first-degree murder and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle in relation to an incident that occurred on Jan. 24, 2022, where 28-year-old Donte Lee was found dead on the 2200 block of Ruskin Avenue.
No closing statements were delivered from the prosecution nor from the defense in Joyner’s trial.
The reason why the charges were dropped was not stated in the court file.
