Defendant Charged with Assault Rejects Eight Year Plea, Judge Sets Trial Date

A Baltimore man charged with assault was given a trial date on Feb. 7 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Defendant Ricardo Daniel Alleyne was given a trial date after rejecting a plea of 20 years, suspending all but eight years with five years of supervised probation for first-degree assault and a concurrent sentence of 15 years, suspending all but eight years with the possibility of parole for the first five years for firearm use in a felony violent crime.

Judge Phinn scheduled for the defendant to start trial on April 7 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie Hong for two days.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Alleyne, who is represented by Lawrence Rosenberg, is charged with first and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, discharging firearms and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident that occurred on Oct. 9, 2022.
