A 47-year-old man accused of drunkenly firing a handgun outside of a liquor store in November was released on home detention on Dec. 28.
According to the prosecution, Donnale Hines was seen getting out of a vehicle, firing a handgun, and then walking to a nearby liquor store on Nov. 2. Baltimore Police were called to the scene and saw the defendant pointing the gun “in some unknown direction.”
Hines, who was intoxicated at the time, dropped his handgun when police drew their weapons and was found with drugs on his person and in his vehicle. There was no apparent victim, the prosecutor noted.
Defense attorney Brad MacFee presented the same details of the case; however, he questioned the location of the gun, specifically whether it was inside or outside the liquor store when it was fired. MacFee said Hines was the breadwinner of the family and requested his release.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson agreed to release Hines on home detention, stipulating a total lockdown except for work, medical, or legal reasons.
Hines’ next court appearance is scheduled for March 9, 2023, at 9 a.m. in reception court.
