A defendant facing charges related to a non-fatal shooting on December 2021 had his trial date set before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Oct 26.

Prosecutors offered the 34-year-old defendant a plea of two concurrent sentences of 25 years in prison, suspending all but five years with the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation for first-degree assault and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction. He would also be prohibited for any unlawful contact with victims. The defendant and his attorney Michael Cooper rejected the plea.

The defendant is charged with first-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, having a handgun on his person, two counts of second-degree assault, having a loaded handgun on his person, illegal possession of ammo, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possessing a firearm with a drug conviction and reckless endangerment in connection to an incident on Dec. 9, 2021.

Judge Phinn scheduled the defendant’s trial for Nov 21 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Philip S. Jackson and is expected to last two days.
