Less than a month since his retrial was last postponed, Lorenzo Kevin Terry learned that his trial would be again pushed to October because his defense attorney was sick.

The Baltimore man, who is facing multiple attempted murder charges and firearm charges, has been waiting for his retrial since a mistrial was declared in October 2019 when the prosecution failed to disclose witness statements, court documents state. His trial was scheduled to begin on Aug. 22 but was postponed on Sept. 15 after the prosecution cited “a discovery issue” involving a witness statement and additional evidence.

Terry, 28, is accused of allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend twice as well as a bystander on Nov. 17, 2018, on the 1500 block of Ramsay Street.

Defense attorney George Harris told Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn on Thursday that he was ill and that he and the prosecutor were available for earlier dates, but they did not accommodate the schedules of the prosecution’s witnesses.

Judge Phinn noted the disappointment on the defendant’s face and rescheduled his trial to begin Oct. 7 before Judge Gregory Sampson.
