Three years after a mistrial was declared, Lorenzo Kevin Terry was scheduled to begin his retrial on Aug. 22, however he will have to wait for a little longer due to discovery issues with the prosecution.

Terry was scheduled for trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie Hong on Monday but was moved to Judge Melissa Phinn’s reception court where the prosecution requested a postponement.

During the proceedings, the prosecution cited “a discovery issue” involving a witness statement and additional evidence. Despite an objection from defense attorney George Harris, Judge Phinn approved the postponement and informed the prosecution to check with the clerk’s office where evidence is returned when a mistrial occurs.

Baltimore Witness contacted Harris who declined to comment.

Terry is accused of approaching a vehicle with two women inside, one of whom was his ex-girlfriend, on Nov. 17, 2018, on the 1500 block of Ramsay Street. When his ex got out of the vehicle about a half a block away, Terry allegedly fired seven gunshots at her, hitting her twice as well as a bystander who was walking out of a bar.

He is currently facing attempted murder, assault, and reckless endangerment in addition to several weapons charges.

The defendant is scheduled to return to court for his retrial on Sept. 15 before Judge Charles Blomquist.
