Non-Fatal Shooting

Attempted murder defendant Jerome “Jerone” Davis rejected a plea offer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on March 17.
Davis is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and related firearm charges in connection to a non-fatal shooting incident on Oct. 30, 2024.
According to charging documents, officers responded to the 2800 block of Woodbrook Avenue at approximately 12:03 a.m. in response to an anonymous 911 call and ShotSpotter alert. “Bullets were flying,” the caller informed officers. Upon arrival, officers found spent .38 and 45-caliber cartridges, blood, and an unoccupied vehicle with a bullet hole in the front windshield.
At approximately 12:12 a.m., nine minutes after the initial call, a male self-identifying as “Jerone Davis” called and informed officers that he was at “North and Woodbrook.” Responding officers located Davis in the 1300 block of W. North Avenue, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg near a silver Honda Odyssey minivan with Virginia plates that was registered to him. A trail of blood led from the driver’s side front and rear doors to where Davis was lying on the ground.
Video surveillance footage from the area captured a man matching Davis’ description – a Black male in a black hoodie, white T-shirt, blue jeans, and light-colored sneakers – standing from where he allegedly sat on the incident location’s steps and approaching three other people.
One of the three, along with the man matching Davis’ description, produced handguns as the other two fled the scene, one of them ducking as if seeking cover. The man matching Davis’ description was seen hopping and lifting his right leg as if it was shot before entering the Honda Odyssey and driving away. Using area video footage, officers were able to track the minivan from the incident location to a car repair shop, where it stopped for approximately three minutes before proceeding to Davis’ location.
Officers recovered from a sewage drain along Davis’ flight route an unregistered black SIG Sauer P238 .38-caliber single-action pistol with the serial number S242575. No live cartridges were found.
Davis was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound and discharged. Officers towed Davis’ minivan for processing pending a search warrant.
The prosecution offered Davis a plea deal of life, suspending all but 30 years, with 5 years probation, as well as 20 years, the first five without parole, for the counts of attempted first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony or violent crime.
Defense attorney Brandon Thornton rejected the deal on behalf of Davis, whom he advised to not address the court.
Davis is set to reappear in court July 2 for a three-day jury trial before Judge Timothy J. Doory.
