A 39-year-old manslaughter defendant went before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gregory Sampson to accept a plea deal on June 26.
Mahammad Williams, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and he pleaded guilty accompanied by his defense attorneys, Christopher O’Meara and Todd Oppenheim. The plea deal provided a three year sentence, suspending all but time served, as well as three years of supervised probation. Williams will also have to take certified drivers’ education classes.
According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on June 9, 2022, Williams ran over 71-year-old Marvin Redd as he was crossing the street on the 500 block of Mosher Street. When questioned, Williams said that he saw the victim but thought he would move out of the way.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Williams was driving between 39 to 47 miles per hour at the time of impact. He tested negative for both drugs and alcohol.
