Baltimore City Circuit Court  Judge Melissa Phinn ordered a continuance for a reception court hearing after the defendant arrived late on April 17.

By the time defendant Levar Brown arrived at his hearing on Monday, the prosecutor assigned to a case had already started another trial and was unable to provide his schedule.

Judge Phinn scheduled the defendant’s next scheduling hearing for May 4.

Defense attorney Eric Berman represented Brown during the proceeding.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Brown, 32, is charged in connection to a shooting on July 19, 2022, on one count each of attempted first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use during a felony violent crime, and discharging a firearm.

As stated in court documents, officers recovered video footage depicting Brown and an unidentified black male engaged in an argument on the 100 block of South Broadway. The defendant then drew his gun and started firing in the direction of the unidentified male. This prompted the man to return fire, hitting Brown in the upper thigh and forcing him to seek medical attention at Sinai Hospital.
