A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years for a May 2023 murder in Baltimore City Circuit Court Sept. 20
Kedric A. Green pleaded guilty in July to first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime for the death of 29-year-old Darren Shipley on the 4500 block of Wakefield Road.
According to the prosecution, Green shot Shipley through his car window. Although the defendant’s attorney Matthew Connell, argued the victim was in possession of a firearm and his client acted in self-defense.
Connell said that despite the defendant’s pleading guilty, he still has a “light at the end of the tunnel.”
Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer sentenced Green to life, suspending all but 40 years in prison for first-degree murder, with a concurrent 20 years, the first five years without the possibility of parole for firearm use in a felony violent crime. Green will also serve five years of supervised probation upon release.
