Trial Postponed for 16-Year-Old Accused of Murdering McDonald’s Security Guard

The trial of a 16-year-old boy charged with murder was postponed on June 17 because a defense lawyer was unavailable.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria transferred the case to reception court, where defendant Alex’Xander Marasa received an August trial date.

Marasa faces charges of first-degree murder, robbery and firearm use in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred Jan. 12, 2025 at a McDonald’s restaurant located on the 4400 block of Reisterstown Road.

Prosecutors allege Marasa shot 38-year-old Jamal Anthony Davis, a security guard employed by the restaurant, following a physical altercation near one of the establishment’s entrances. Marasa, who was 15-years-old at the time, is being tried as an adult due to the severity of the charges

The case was filed in Baltimore City Circuit Court on Feb. 7, 2025.

Marasa’s jury trial is now scheduled to proceed Sept. 14 before Judge Jeannie J. Hong.
