Charles Jackson, 33, declined a plea Thursday during reception court for allegedly shooting three people. Jackson is represented by May Hanna and his case is scheduled for a three-day trial beginning Dec. 17 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy.
Jackson is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony or crime of violence, reckless endangerment, wearing, carrying and knowingly transporting a handgun, and discharging a firearm in Baltimore City.
According to charging documents, police responded to the intersection of South Hanover Street and Patapsco Avenue after receiving a report of a discharged firearm. One victim told police that Jackson approached him and two friends with two other men, pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the group.
That person was not shot, but another victim was reportedly shot twice and walked to Harbor Hospital for treatment. Police later reviewed CCTV footage that allegedly showed Jackson pointing a firearm at all three victims before chasing one of them while appearing to fire the weapon.
Police later located Jackson in a wooded area near the 100 block of West Patapsco Avenue, where officers detained him. Additional CCTV footage allegedly showed a person said to be Jackson walking toward the wooded area after the shooting and later running with a firearm in his hand before placing it in his waistband.
According to the charging documents, detectives interviewed all three victims separately, and their statements were consistent. Police also identified Jackson through his clothing and tattoos seen in the CCTV footage.
