A Baltimore man held in connection with a January shooting appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on June 17 for a pre-trial conference during which attorneys discussed outstanding evidence and trial scheduling.
Denntae Hall, 36, is charged with two counts each of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault, single counts of firearm use, second-degree assault, and resisting arrest, and multiple gun offenses in connection to the shooting.
Court records show that the charges stem from an incident that occurred Jan. 25, 2026, near the 5000 block of Pembridge Avenue in Baltimore.
The criminal indictment was filed on Feb. 25. Defense attorney Karyn Meriwether subsequently filed motions for speedy trial, discovery, and inspection of evidence on March 26.
During the pre-trial hearing on Wednesday, the state’s attorney placed a plea offer on the record for Hall’s consideration. Under the proposal, Hall would plead guilty to attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, first-degree assault, and second-degree assault.
The offer calls for a sentence of 30 years, suspending all but 20 years on the attempted murder charge; 20 years for the firearm charge, the first five without parole; and concurrent 10-year sentences on the assault charges. The proposed agreement also includes five years of supervised probation, compliance with the Gun Offender Registry Act (GORA), and a stay-away order involving the victim.
Defense counsel stated that Hall was neither accepting nor rejecting the offer at the time. Prosecutors agreed to keep the offer open. The state estimated that four days would be needed for the trial. Both parties agreed to proceed Sept. 8 through Sept. 11 before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays. The scheduled trial date falls within the defendant’s speedy trial deadline of Sept. 22.
