Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant Rejects Plea of 35 Years

A 47-year-old man involved in a non-fatal shooting rejected a plea of 35 years before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Feb. 7.

Damian Palmer is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm in Baltimore city in connection to an incident on Aug. 21, 2021. 

During reception court on Monday, Judge Phinn listened as the prosecutor presented a plea of life suspending all but 35 years for first-degree attempted murder. 

Palmer and his defense attorney, Steven Tully, rejected the plea. 

According to CBS Baltimore, on Aug. 21, 2021, officers were called to the 6000 block of Belair Road for reports of shots being fired. They found a 29-year-old man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. 

According to the police, the victim was shot after a dispute. 

Palmer’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 8.
