A 32-year-old man charged with illegal possession and discharging a firearm with felony conviction rejected a plea offer on Oct. 28 in Baltimore Circuit Court before Judge Melissa K. Copeland.
Deonte Anthony Simms is charged with firearm possession with felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and ammunition, and discharge of a firearm in the city.
The prosecution offered a plea deal of five years without parole for firearm use in a felony or violent crime.
Defense attorney Joseph Owens told the judge at a pretrial hearing on Oct. 28 that Simms rejected the offer.
A two-day trial was scheduled to begin on Jan. 16, 2025, before Judge LaZette C. Ringgold-Kirksey.
