Baltimore rapper Dakas White appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yvette M. Bryant on Feb.12 expecting to proceed to trial alongside his 25-year-old co-defendant regarding an incident on April 24, 2023.
Court documents state that on the 400 block of West Saratoga Street, a heated physical altercation occurred between White’s co-defendant and sister, Tamija Moore, and a male victim. Citiwatch cameras captured footage of Moore allegedly striking the two males, fighting on the ground, with what appeared to be a handgun.
White, 30, also known by his alias “Yung Inky,” is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, having a handgun on his person, conspiracy to have a handgun on his person, reckless endangerment and firing a gun within Baltimore City.
Investigators believed that Moore used the handgun as a “blunt weapon” after her brother missed his shot at the victim. She faces the same charges even though she is not accused of being the shooter.
Both defense attorneys were present, stating that they were ready to proceed to trial on Feb. 12. However, Moore’s attorney, Amanda Savage, raised the issue that the prosecution did not properly file the request to officially join the two cases. As a result, the prosecutor decided to try Moore first, since she was incarcerated while White remains under house arrest.
Judge Bryant sent White and his attorney, Stephen R. Tully, to determine another trial date in front of Judge Melissa K. Copeland in reception court.
White’s trial date is scheduled for May 13 before Judge Althea M. Handy and is expected to last two days.
