On Sept. 19, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn set the trial date for a 29-year old vehicular manslaughter defendant.
Alexis Acosta and his defense attorney, Chaz Ball, rejected a plea offer of three years on the charge of criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter.
Acosta was charged with criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to control speed, death of a vulnerable adult and disregarding an emergency vehicle dating back to the May 21, 2022, incident.
Acosta waived his Hick’s right to be tried by Nov. 1, so counsel could schedule his trial in January 2024. Judge Phinn set the trial on Jan. 18, 2024, before Judge Yvette M. Bryant.
