Gwaltney is charged with four counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use and use of an assault weapon in connection to a mass shooting that occurred in North Baltimore the afternoon of March 29, 2025.
According to charging documents, Baltimore Police Department (BPD) officers were called to the intersection of 400 Venable Avenue and 3300 Greenmount Avenue for a report of multiple shooting victims. Detectives located an unknown number of 9mm , .40 caliber and .45 caliber cartridge casings, as well as bullet fragments.
Four victims were located suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Detectives interviewed the victims who reported hearing gunshots, and fleeing for safety.
Detectives canvassed the area for CCTV footage. Video recovered from a witness in the 3300 block of Greenmount Avenue, revealed the shooters arrived at the crime scene in a silver Jeep Compass and traveled northbound on Greenmount Avenue.
The driver remained in the vehicle while three other males exited and started shooting toward people standing in the area of Greenmount Avenue and Venable Avenue.
CCTV footage revealed the Jeep’s driver wore a bright neon green sweatshirt and remained in the vehicle; a shooter in a red jacket emerged from the rear seat.
Another suspect in the front seat and wore a black jacket with black hood and black pants; a third suspect emerged from the back seat in similar attire. After the shooting, the three suspects re-entered the Jeep and fled the location westbound on Venable Avenue.
Judge Copeland granted the postponement with a proposed trial date was Jan., 2027.
