A 14-year-old boy accused of killing a 15-year-old boy was denied bail a second time on Sept. 30 at Baltimore City Circuit Court.

Damonyae Malone was first denied bail on Sept. 16 before Judge Cynthia H. Jones. The defendant is charged with first-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime and will be tried as an adult after fatally shooting Jaileel Jones in the head on March 4.

Malone allegedly shot the victim after an argument on the 5100 block of Chalgrove Avenue.

On Thursday, defense attorney Sasha Garcon asked for Malone to be released on home detention due to reasons regarding his mental health.

Judge Robert K. Taylor said, given the seriousness of the allegations, Malone cannot be released on home detention and, therefore, was denied bail.

Garcon noted that Malone’s case received a trial date during reception court on Sept. 29. He is currently scheduled for a motions hearing on Oct. 21 and waiting for a juvenile transfer hearing to be discussed in reception court on Nov. 30.
