Baltimore Man Accepts 30-Year Plea for Attempted Murder

A 37-year-old man accepted a plea of 30 years for second-degree attempted murder for a charge stemming back to a 2020 shooting before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

Bryant Ray Ferguson is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, having a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, using a firearm in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, discharging firearms, illegal possession of ammo, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and two loaded handgun violations in connection to an incident on Nov. 21, 2020.

According to CBS Baltimore, in 2020 police responded to a call on the 1700 block of Ellsworth Street. On the scene, officers located a 43-year-old woman in her car suffering from a gunshot wound. Police arrested Ferguson and charged him with the shooting. 

On Sept. 27, Ferguson and his defense attorney Roya Hanna, accepted a plea of 30 years in prison, suspending all but 15 years with five years supervised probation for second-degree attempted murder; and a concurrent sentence of ten years in prison with the first five years without the possibility of parole for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime. 

The defendant must also not have any unlawful contact with the victim and undergo mental health screening and treatment.
