Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set a May 19 jury trial date for attempted murder defendant Liteeaf Peterson, 25, on April 7.

The prosecution was unable to completely detail their plea offer during the hearing because their computer systems were down.

Regardless, defense attorney Hunter Pruette proactively rejected the agreement.

“At this point, it’s not acceptable,” he told the prosecution.

Peterson is indicted for attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, possession of a firearm with a prior felony conviction, having a loaded handgun on his person, illegal possession of ammunition, and firing or discharging a gun in Baltimore City.

According to charging documents, on April 29, 2024, a victim was shot in the foot in the 400 block of S. Pulaski Street. Baltimore City CCTV cameras caught the incident on video and captured one suspect raising a handgun and shooting at the victim.

After still photographs of the suspect were released, a Baltimore Police Department police officer who previously built a rapport with Peterson was able to positively identify him as the suspect seen in the footage.

Pruette referred to the upcoming trial, which is set to last three days, as an “identification” trial.
