Ann Street Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant Rejects Plea Offer

On April 17, a defendant charged with attempted murder rejected a plea before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn, who scheduled the new trial for Aug. 28.

Represented by defense attorney Janet Anderson, Baltimore resident David Boyd rejected to serve a sentence of 30 years, suspending all but 15 years with five years of supervised probation for second-degree attempted murder and a concurrent five years without the possibility of parole for his use of a firearm during a felony violent crime. 

Judge Phinn scheduled Boyd’s trial Aug. 28 with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles J. Peters presiding. It is expected to last three days.

According to a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) news release, Oct. 25, 2022, officers were called to the 100 block of Ann Street for reports of a shooting. On arrival, officers found the 29-year-old male victim with a gunshot to his left leg. Officers believe Boyd shot the victim following an argument, he was arrested on Nov. 7, 2022. 

Boyd is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammo, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, and discharging firearms in connection to an incident on
