The trial for a Baltimore teenager involved in an attempted murder was rescheduled on March 8 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.

Tramon Wright, 17, is charged with two counts of attempted first and second-degree murder, two counts of first and second-degree assault, two counts of firearm use during a felony crime, two counts of possession of a firearm as a minor, two counts of reckless endangerment, and one count of discharging a firearm in connection to an incident on July 14, 2021.

During reception court on Tuesday, Judge Phinn listened as counsel agreed on a new trial date.

Wright was represented by defense attorney William Buie III

According to court documents, officers received reports of two shootings. One on the 1000 block of Orleans Street, on July 14, 2021, at approximately 2:54 a.m., and another on the 200 block of East Street at 2:56 a.m.

Due to the confusion between the calls, officers only responded to 200 block of East Street, thinking both calls were for the same incident.

However, at 11 a.m., the owner of the home that was shot at on the 1000 block of Orleans Street called 911 again. Both the homeowner and the person in the apartment, said they heard several loud bangs.

Upon further questioning, police discovered that the homeowner has a teenage son who stays with her or his father.

Detectives then went over the cameras throughout the neighborhood. Surveillance cameras showed a newer black Toyota Tundra circling the roundabout at New Hop Circle and also traveling up Forest Street.

The Tundra then stops and parks at the corner of New Hope Circle and Forest Street. The car returns and parks in the same spot and turns the lights off, with five young unidentified black men exit the car and walk north on Forest Street.

All the suspects slowly walk back towards Forest Street but while walking back several of the suspects are facing the front of the house with guns. Suddenly, all the suspects run from Forest Street into the passenger side of the Tundra before it flees the area.

The homeowner of 1000 block of Orleans Street is seen opening and shutting the front door every few minutes and movement can be seen within the home. An unknown man dressed in all black exits the front door of the house and walks north to Orleans Street then West. As the man is walking away the door is being held partially open by the homeowner, documents state.

The suspect can be seen with a cell phone in his hand holding in a way which resembles a recording or face timing with someone. At this time the suspect walks to the front of 200 block of East Street, where he shoots at the front door of the house with the muzzle flash observed then immediately flees south on East Street towards New Hope Circle then east towards Forest Street before disappearing out of the camera’s view.

According to court documents, detectives believe that Wright fled the scene after the shooting to stay with his dad who has a previous conviction of illegal possession of a handgun. Documents also note that the homeowner who has a prior conviction of possession with intent to distribute.

Several kids from the neighborhood said Wright was the one who shot the gun on the 200 block of East Street, sending a screenshot of the defendant’s Instagram account to the detective. The photo was of Wright taking a selfie of himself with the caption “Sent myself to hit dey block up”.

The photo was taken on July 18, four days after the shootings. The photo is timestamped saying four days ago which would be the July 14 the day of the shooting.

Wright’s trial is set for Oct. 21.
