A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge set a September trial date for a 26-year-old mother accused of her child’s murder after confessing voices told her to do it.
Shakira Shaw, who was recently assigned defense attorneys Janine Meckler and Stephanie Salter, will begin her jury trial on Sept. 18. During reception court on March 31, Judge Melissa Phinn informed counsel that she would get back to them regarding the presiding judge.
One-year-old Kaleb Shaw was reportedly found unresponsive in their home on Dec. 28, 2019. An autopsy concluded that Kaleb died of natural causes, but his mother later called Baltimore Police on Oct. 8, 2020, and confessed.
