Jury selection for an attempted first-degree murder case began Sept. 21 in Baltimore City Circuit Court before Judge Videtta Brown. The defendant, Buddy Rositzky, 25, was represented by Jason Rodriguez.
Rositzky stands accused of attempted first-and-second-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a violent felony, reckless endangerment, having a handgun on person, carrying and transporting a weapon during the commission of a crime, and discharging a weapon within Baltimore City limits.
According to the statement of charges, the 33-year-old female victim was pulling her car around the defendant and another individual who were on electric mopeds in the road, because they were side-by-side and only able to move slowly. The defendant allegedly responded by accelerating alongside the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, pulled out his weapon and fired a gunshot at her in an apparent road rage retaliation.
The victim retaliated with her own firearm inside her vehicle, and fired a shot toward the defendant. She allegedly made a right turn, while the mopeds were following her before she crashed her car at the end of the 300 block of South Poppleton Street. She claims that she fired several rounds, but could not recall the exact number of shots.
The defendant was apprehended by Baltimore City Police (BCP) in a rear alley nearby after being directed by both the victim and another witness.
Video evidence recovered from a nearby house captured a portion of the incident, including revving mopeds followed by a gunshot. The video shows a speeding moped followed by a black SUV. The vehicles quickly went out of view, but two additional gunshots were heard, followed by the sound of a car crash.
The trial is expected to run for three days and is expected to start on Sept. 22.
