Witness testimony for the retrial of an alleged double homicide took place Sept. 17 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan Lazerow.
Khaleb Edmonds, 26, is accused of allegedly committing the double homicide of Myron White, 30, and Darius Hill, 30, near the 2200 block of North Avenue in Mondawmin on Aug.24, 2023, outside of a local bar known as “Fireside.”
According to the statement of charges, the defendant is accused of shooting White while he was in his Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Hill while confronting him in the street. White was shot in the head while in his black SUV, and Hill was shot in the torso, and later found on the 1800 block of N Smallwood Street in West Baltimore.
The lead detective on the case noted that while they were unable to recover the suspected murder weapon, police were able to connect firearms evidence from cartridges recovered at the scene to a shooting about a month earlier.
The witness walked the jury through surveillance video used by the prosecution to identify and track the movements of the defendant.
Police were aLo able to recover surveillance footage from businesses and the city in the area. Canvassing for residential camera footage was unsuccessful.
The lead detective was also able to identify the suspect interacting with one of the victims in the middle of the street.
A witness, who was seen walking by the two, was able to pick out the defendant in a lineup of still shots.
During the trial, Judge Lazerow dismissed the jury, so counsel could discuss the admissibility of the defendant’s inmate communications while in jail.
Defense counsel, Staci Pipkin, argued extensively that the calls were unfairly prejudicial against her client.
The prosecution’s testimony is expected to continue on Sept. 18.
