A 20-year-old woman was denied bail on Sept. 8 in connection to a shooting that left two dead.
According to Baltimore Police, the shooting occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Oct. 13, 2020, on the 600 block of North Ellwood Avenue.
During a Baltimore City Circuit Court bail review hearing on Wednesday, Judge Philip S. Jackson heard the case of Baltimore resident Yonah White, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime as well as attempted first-degree murder and conspiracy to first-degree murder.
White’s defense attorney, Maureen Rowland, told the court that White was in an ongoing dispute with one of the victims last October. White allegedly gathered her friends and pointed out the victim when shots were fired, killing 19 year-old Deon Brown and injuring a 23-year-old male.
The 23-year-old victim later died from his injuries, the prosecution told the court. However, the victim’s identity was not revealed.
“There’s no indication that [White] told anybody to shoot,” Rowland said. “She was just there.”
Although White has no conviction history, Judge Jackson denied bail given the seriousness of the allegations. White is scheduled to appear in reception court on Oct. 12.
White was previously offered a plea of life, suspending all but 60 years, with five years of probation but rejected the offer on June 22.
