A Baltimore resident’s trial date for a 2018 homicide case was pushed back nearly two weeks on July 16 at the Baltimore City Circuit Court.
According to a Baltimore Police press release, Neil Davis allegedly shot 25-year-old Darelle Yancey on the 4600 block of York Road on Nov. 10, 2018. Yancey died soon after the incident.
Davis, 27, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, carrying or wearing a handgun on his person, and firearm possession with a felony conviction.
The defendant’s case was previously heard by Judge Barry G. Williams, who originally scheduled the trial date for Sept. 8.
On Friday, the prosecution brought the case before Judge Melissa M. Phinn to change the trial date. Although the prosecution did not say why they wanted to change the date, Judge Phinn agreed to reschedule the trial for Sept. 20 in courtroom 464 of the Mitchell Courthouse.
Judge Phinn also said Judge Erik S. Atas will now preside over the case due to a scheduling conflict with another judge.
