Rutland Avenue Attempted Murder Defendant Faces August Trial

On April 11, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland gave attempted murder defendant Jerrod Rowlett an August trial date. 

Rowlett, 40, is currently charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault,conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, two counts of reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, having a handgun on his person, firing a gun in Baltimore City and having a gun within 100 yards of the public.

Rowlett was originally scheduled for a three-day trial beginning on April 9. However, the prosecution requested a postponement. Rowlett’s attorney Jerome Bivens was not present at the hearing.

Judge Copeland granted the postponement and scheduled a three-day trial beginning on Aug. 29 before Judge Lynn Stewart Mays

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, on June 2, 2023, a Baltimore Police Department intelligence officer identified Rowlett via police surveillance engaging in a firearm exchange on the 1700 block of Rutland Avenue, allegedly firing at a passing vehicle.
