Prosecutor Nolle Pros Homicide Case Due to Witness Dying of an Overdose

On Feb. 6, the prosecutor of two co-defendants facing murder charges entered a nolle pros in both cases before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong due to the death of a lone eyewitness who died of an overdose.

Deonte Marvin Harris and Elijah Shannon, both ages 17, are charged with first-degree murder, the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, attempted armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in connection to an incident on Jan. 24, 2022. 

Harris, who is represented by Warren Brown and George Harris, is also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm as a minor. 

Shannon, who is represented by Brandon Taylor, is also facing an additional first-degree murder charge.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident at 2:25 a.m., officers were called to the 3900 block of White Avenue for reports of shots being fired. On arrival, officers found Cheryl McCormack shot in the head following an attempted robbery.

The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene by the medics.
