A Baltimore man’s sentencing was postponed on June 22 after he failed to appear before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Michael A. DiPietro as scheduled.
On March 19, a jury found Michael Reed, 23, guilty of attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment and three firearm violations in connection to a shootout that occurred the morning of June 8, 2025 in Baltimore’s Penn North neighborhood.
The incident, which occurred outside Cash USA Pawn Shop on the 1200 block of W. North Avenue, left a 45-year-old man injured with several gunshot wounds. Reed was arrested five days later after eyewitnesses, including the pawn shop’s security guard, named him as the shooter.
Reed represented himself at trial after dismissing his defense attorney, Deborah Warner-Dennis.
Prior to the postponement Judge DiPietro noted Baltimore City Circuit Judge Hope Tipton had ordered a pre-sentencing investigation for Reed’s case. Due to the pending order and Reed’s failure to appear in court, Judge DiPietro postponed the defendant’s sentencing to Oct. 13.
