A 27-year-old man accused of a non-fatal shooting in May will return to Baltimore City Circuit Court’s reception court next week once he is assigned a new defense attorney.

Delvon Harrod is charged with firing a gun in Baltimore City in connection to a shooting on May 7. He is also facing charges of firearm possession during a felony or violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person and having a handgun within 100 yards of a public place.

On Oct. 16, Janine Meckler, an attorney standing in for Harrod’s current representation, Joseph Owens, requested a postponement.

He informed Judge Melissa M. Phinn that the Office of the Pubic Defender is currently in the process of assigning a new attorney to the defendant. The reason for Owens departure was not discussed in open court.

Judge Phinn agreed to hold Harrod’s case until Oct. 23 when he is slated to return to reception court.
