On Oct. 18, Amanda Savage appeared in front of Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn to schedule a motions hearing on behalf of her client, Frederick Belton

Belton, 58, is charged with possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, possession of firearms during a controlled dangerous substance offense,  illegal possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within Baltimore City in connection to a May 14 incident.

The prosecutor made a plea offer that included a sentence of 15 years, suspending all but five, without the possibility of parole and an additional two years of probation. Belton would have also been required to register as a gun offender. Belton rejected the offer.

Savage then requested a motions hearing before scheduling a trial date to suppress evidence and to dismiss the case. The date was set for Nov. 9 before Judge Christopher L. Panos.
