Eleni Christou senior at Loyola University Md., double majoring in forensic studies and philosophy. She is originally from Queens, N.Y. During her studies, she has become highly aware of systemic injustices in the realm of criminal law. She is very passionate about systemic change as well as criminal defense. With these interests, she hopes to work for an organization that combats change related to criminal justice, incarceration, post-conviction sentencing, and innocence work.
Baltimore Witness largely appealed to her due to their emphasized importance on transparency in order to combat change in Baltimore’s criminal justice system. Their stress on understanding the system as a whole (as opposed to separate parts) in order to achieve change, is a stance that highly aligns with her beliefs, and she looks forward to working alongside what she believes to be an impactful organization.
