A 41-year-old Baltimore man rejected a plea offer of two decades incarceration on Dec. 20 for the fatal stabbing of Dondre Quickley in Jonestown in July.
During Friday’s reception court proceedings, Fielding Bame was offered a plea of 40 years, suspending all but 20 years, and five years of supervised probation for second-degree murder. Under the terms of the plea, Bame would also be required to complete mental heath screening and treatment.
In addition to the murder charge, the defendant is also charged with use of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure.
Defense attorney Janine Meckler—who stood in for Bame’s attorney, Jason Rodriguez—rejected the offer. Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled Bame’s five-day trial to begin March 24, 2025, before Judge Kimberly C. McBride.
In July, Baltimore Police reported on the stabbing that killed the 48-year-old victim. Bame, a repeat violent offender, is accused of stabbing Quickley in the chest on July 12 on the 100 block of North Front Street. The victim died from his injuries eight days later.
Detectives found Bame at the same location the day after the stabbing and arrested him without incident.
