On Nov. 18, a Baltimore resident pleaded guilty to assault charges and was sentenced to five years in prison before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Defendant Phillip Adams and defense attorney Amanada Savage accepted a plea deal for five years for the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime and a concurrent 15 years, suspending all but five years with three years of supervised probation for first-degree assault in connection to an incident on April 11, 2022.
In another case, the 43-year-old defendant also accepted a plea of three years for having a handgun on his person in connection to the non-fatal shooting of a male victim on April 10, 2022. All these sentences are supposed to run concurrently to Adams’ aforementioned sentence.
Adams was given credit for the 220 days he has already served.
According to court documents read by the prosecutor, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the 5100 block of Liberty Avenue for reports of an armed person. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who informed them that the defendant had allegedly pulled a firearm and threatened to shoot him.
On the following day, April 11, the defendant went back to Liberty Avenue, continuing to threaten the victim when he fired a shot at the victim.
