A 29-year-old defendant’s murder trial was postponed following the death of a member of the defense attorney’s family.
Tyler Liggins is charged with first‑degree murder, first‑degree assault, and kidnapping in connection with the death of Travon Booth after a July 19 incident on the 1100 block of W. Northern Parkway.
Prosecutors say Liggins allegedly admitted to beating Booth unconscious twice during an altercation involving Liggins’ brother‑in‑law and Booth. Liggins said he then drove around in Booth’s vehicle, ultimately causing a car crash that claimed Booth’s life.
During reception court June 5, it was mentioned that Liggins’ attorney, Jason Wiles, recently lost his father.
The trial was postponed by more than four months. It is now expected to begin on Oct. 27 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong.
