A 44-year-old Baltimore man is facing up to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter on June 3.
Mark Anthony Redding accepted the state’s plea offer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Timothy J. Doory. His disposition hearing is scheduled on Aug. 5
On Feb. 22, 2024, Redding was driving a 2003 Chevy Tahoe with two passengers in the back seat. The vehicle crashed into a 2024 Chevy Cruze at the intersection of the 1600 block of Edmondson Avenue and the 800 block of N. Monroe Street, killing passengers Marquise Sharps, 37, and Dytanyis David Jr, 23. Two more occupants of the Tahoe were critically injured, but survived. The two occupants of the Chevy Cruze refused medical transportation.
Baltimore Police obtained video footage from the nearby Uptown Liquor and Bar and determined that Redding was driving approximately 53 mph in a 30-mph zone, and accelerated to 85 mph approximately five seconds before impact.
Redding is represented by defense attorney Maureen O’Leary.
