Jury Selection Underway for Second Brother Charged with Murder

After rescheduling to accommodate witnesses, the homicide trial of Darren Tomlinson, 32, is underway with jury selection before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn S. Mays

Tomlinson was charged alongside his brother, Dylon Tomlinson, with the murder of Hasan Howard, 43, on Jan. 19, 2025.

According to court documents, officers  recovered 34 9mm shell casings and two projectiles from the primary crime scene located on the 400 block of Washburn Avenue. Video footage was also obtained that detailed the subjects allegedly arriving at the scene in a Hyundai Kona and opening fire upon both sides of the victim’s vehicle. Another victim who was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting was severely injured from gunshot wounds.

Darren is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and multiple other gun-related offenses. His brother, Dylon, stood trial in April but the case was dismissed by the prosecution, admitting they “couldn’t charge him.”

Jury selection is set to conclude on Aug. 31 with the trial to continue through the week.
