Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland granted a postponement in Coetta Miller’s love triangle assault case on June 2 due to an absent defense attorney.
Miller, 65, is charged with first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, and multiple gun offenses in connection to a shooting.
At 9 p.m. on March 13, 2025, Miller was stopped by law enforcement in Northwest Baltimore after a woman flagged a police officer and claimed Miller, who was driving a white Honda, had a gun and shot at her vehicle while she was leaving a mechanic’s shop on the 5200 block of Eleanora Avenue.
Officers then attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Miller’s vehicle. Though allegedly she initially attempted to flee, she eventually stopped. Officers claim they found a black 9mm Sig Sauer handgun beneath her driver’s seat, loaded with six live rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.
The defense was reportedly absent due to a family emergency, and the state also requested further time to amend their plea offer to Miller.
The victim later said Miller insulted her with racial slurs. She also admitted she had sexual relations with the mechanic, who Miller was also seeing.
Miller is set to reappear in reception court on June 4 for further discussions regarding trial scheduling.
