Judge Sets Court Dates in Homicides, Attempted Murder Cases

Darrell Morton, 37, was among the defendants coming before Baltimore City Circuit Court  Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Jan. 29 to consider his homicide case.

Morton and his co-defendant Kalim Satterfield, 27, were arrested on Sept.17, 2024, in connection to the the murder of Dominic DeAngelo Reid.  The incident occurred Aug.17, 2024, on the 1000 block of Madison Avenue.

Morton is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use of felony violent crime, conspiracy to firearm use of felony violent crime, and handgun on person. He is represented by Natalie Finegar. 

Meanwhile, Satterfield faces the identical counts.

During the hearing, Morton was offered a plea deal of life suspending all but 55 years for first-degree murder, and 20 concurrent years for firearm use in a felony or violent crime. He rejected the offer. 

His next proceeding, a motion hearing  with Satterfield, is scheduled for March 13 with a pretrial conference scheduled for March 14.

Judge Copeland also set court calendars for five other defendants during the hearing including Emanuel Dukes, 26, Marquita Echols, 40, Tyrone White, 42, Travis Maynor, 45, and Dwayne Frazier, 47. 

Dukes is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, the discharge of any gun, pistol, or firearm, and loaded handgun on person. 

Judge Copeland scheduled his jury trial on April 10.

Echols is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, discharging any gun pistol and firearm, two counts of firearm possession in a felony violent crime, illegal possession of ammo, and loaded handgun in vehicle.

Echols was scheduled for trial on April 14.

White is charged with first-degree murder, armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, carrying/wearing a handgun on person, firearm possession with felony conviction, and second-degree murder. 

His initial trial in 2022 resulted in a hung jury followed by another mistrial in Sept. 2024.

White’s third jury trial was scheduled on Aug. 11.

Maynor is charged with attempted first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, robbery, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy robbery, reckless endangerment, did fire and discharge any gun, pistol, and firearm, handgun on person, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Maynor will have a pre-trial conference  on Feb. 3.

Frazier is charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, and discharge of any gun, pistol, and firearm. 

His jury trial was set  on March 26.
