Attempted Murder Trial Continued for Lack of Lawyer

Attempted murder suspect Deaontae Fleming was set for trial June 15 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Alan Lazerow, but the proceeding was postponed because a defense counsel was unavailable.

Fleming, 36, is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, assault, and firearm possession in connection to a Nov. 5, 2025 shooting on the 400 block of E. Baltimore Street

Surveillance footage retrieved from multiple sources by investigators captured the incident. Fleming was allegedly seen retrieving a gun from his waistband and following the victim into an alleyway. Several of Fleming’s associates surrounded the victim.

The victim fled from the alley and was followed by the group. An unidentified vehicle was shown attempting unsuccessfully to hit the victim,

A fight ensued between the victim and the defendant’s accomplices before Fleming allegedly shot the victim in the neck.

According to the Maryland Judiciary, both prosecution and defense attorney Derrick Hamlin were engaged in other matters, preventing the trial from moving forward Monday morning.

The trial is set to continue at an unspecified date.
