Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn set a trial date for a 19-year-old man involved in a co-defendant murder matter during a Dec. 5 reception court proceeding.

James Boisseau faces several charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, six counts of firearm use in a felony violent crime, three counts of reckless endangerment from a car, and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. In addition, he is charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, two counts of attempted armed robbery, and one charge each of having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm as a minor.

These charges are all linked to a homicide shooting on March 29, 2020, in which 18-year-old Riyad Campell was killed.

Devin Thompson and Deshon Walker were also both implicated in this murder.

According to witness testimony, Campbell was allegedly robbed by Boisseau, Thompson, and Walker after making a purchase at a liquor store. The three men then fled the scene in a vehicle and followed the victim, firing one fatal gunshot to his back.

Despite Thompson and Walker’s initial charges, they have since been found not guilty.

Boisseau, on the other hand, is currently awaiting trial.

At Monday’s hearing, his defense attorney, John Cox, and the prosecution agreed to begin trial on March 30, 2023, in what counsels anticipate will last four days.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Robert Taylor is ordered to preside over this proceeding.
