18-Year-Old Rejects Plea Offer in Homicide Case

An 18-year-old Baltimore resident rejected a plea offer before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on July 7 for his alleged involvement in a 2020 homicide.

During reception court, Judge Copeland heard the case against James Boisseau, who was allegedly involved in a homicide shooting on March 29, 2020.

Boisseau was offered life, suspending all but 50 years, with five years of supervised probation for first-degree murder. Defense attorney John Cox rejected the offer on behalf of his client.

Boisseau is also charged with another count of first-degree murder, along with six counts of firearm use in a violent crime, and three counts of reckless endangerment from a car and conspiracy to commit an armed robbery. He also faces two counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery, as well as one charge each of attempted first-degree murder, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and possession of a firearm as a minor.

A trial for Boisseau was scheduled for Sept. 24, which will be heard before Judge Althea M. Handy.
