Judge Issues Trial Date After Non-Fatal Shooting Defendant in E. Patapsco Avenue Shooting Case Rejects Plea

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a non-fatal shooting defendant’s trial for September after the defendant rejected a plea of eight years in prison on April 19. 

Teonte Raone and his defense counsel Thomas Ashwell rejected a plea of a 10 year suspended sentence for second-degree assault, five years for neglect of a minor and five years suspending all but three years with five years of supervised probation for illegal possession of a regulated firearm, giving the defendant a total of 10 years suspending all but eight years with five years of supervised probation. 

The defendant’s trial was scheduled for Sept. 11 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy presiding. It is expected to last one to two days.

Raone, 34, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, neglect of a minor, discharging firearms, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an incident on Sept. 27, 2019.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the 600 block of E. Patapsco Avenue for reports of a shooting. On arrival, officers found an adult man with a gunshot to the abdomen. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where his injury was believed to not be life-threatening.
