Defense Attorney Claims Client Had No Gun in Trial Opening

Attempted Murder Defendant in 2022 Shooting Case Found Competent and Criminally Responsible to Stand Trial

On May 3, a defendant accused of attempted murder was found competent and criminally responsible to stand trial before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale Rasin.  In Feb., Judge Rasin signed a new order for a not criminally responsible (NCR) evaluation for defendant Ahmad Moulden.  A report found the 36-year-old defendant competent and criminally responsible to stand trial on April 24.  During Wednesday’s mental health court, defense attorney Granville Templeton did not contest the findings of the report, although he did state that his client’s competency fluctuates.  According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Moulden is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, and discharging a firearm in connection to an incident that occurred on July 10, 2022.  A trial date is yet to be set.  Read more »
